Intro to PT Paper There are many areas, settings in Physical therapy .Such as Pediatrics, acute care, aquatics, geriatrics, education, oncology and so much more. I will be explaining what field of physical therapy that I strongly feel of pursuing and my least favorite field. Then I will give my whys and why nots feedback for each field that I talk about. In the area of acute care, physical therapy is provided to patients who are admitted to a hospital for a short-term period of time. They can be admitted for reasons such as an accident, a surgery, or recovery from trauma. Some pathologies seen in this area include, cerebral palsy, genetic disorders, arthrogryposis, and muscular dystrophy. The physical therapy will assess or evaluate areas such as the child’s joint flexibility, posture, endurance, balance, coordination, muscle strength, muscle tone, motor control, motor planning, functional movement, equipment needs, and work to determine if the child would benefit from physical therapy services in order to help alleviate a motor problem. Geriatrics- In this setting its groups of Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants working with elderly patients and their needs. Geriatrics physical therapy can take place in a hospital setting, nursing homes, rehab facilities, and private clinical settings. Pathologies vary from hip fractures, total hip or knee replacements, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and strokes. However globalization is designed to help transnational companies by allowing them to move their production to less developed countries that have cheap, unregulated labor and low standard. Another findings are most of people in undeveloped countries are tend to think that a country can develop under the guidance of international organizations such as WB and IMF, but this is not correct.Those help from global institution might be effective but they cannot guide each one of less fortune countries’ economy for long-term. In the short run, undeveloped countries should look into economic development internally. People must be educated and the government must be made to work. But it does not mean by going to the Western way, which emphasizes individualism and profit orientation. (Harford, 2006) The real question in this report was that how to make globalization consistent with the institutional as well as the manpower requirements necessary for increased productivity in less developed countries.
